this was the best party that i have been to in a few months , at least .

going to this party makes me regret the fact that i don't live in california anymore , and it makes me anxious to move back when i am finally able to . this is not only because it was an expensive and exhausting trip to california , but also because the party lacked the familiar feeling that comes with getting to know the same (huge) group of people there , and being able to chat and wander aimlessly among the mass of locals that lie somewhere on the spectrum between strangers and friends .

this was the first year that EDC was hosted at this location (the colusseum is a venue where other insomniac events have been hosted , although EDC is traditional held at the orange show) . although there was no filthy pond for mind-altered zombies to drudge through , the topography was good for walking , dancing , or sitting around . there were quiet spots where it was possible to have a conversation without yelling , and the huge field in the center was a nice addition . the acoustics were very nice , and it was something of a spectacle to see some tens of thousands of glowing ravers concentrated in one place .

the party was kind of short , so we only gave ourselves time for a few of the rides . manda and i went on the free fall ride (it looked safe for feet) and we also went with todd on the stupid slide race thing . (did i forget to mention that todd was there ?) later , the three of us went on the dragon swings , but pico refused to go , because he's a little bitch and got scared , even though it's the wussiest ride at the whole place .

aside , from todd , jillian also made a surprise appearance . as did caliraver and that one other chick that was short and asian , but i forgot her name (+5 raver points !) . mark and karl were there also but we only got to hang out with them for a while at the party because they got too close to the drum and bass stage and we had to flee . mostly , i hung out with manda and todd the whole time , and pico followed us around too .

i was sad when i found out that lala and ivan didn't go to the party . same for liz and brandon , but we got to go hang out with them after the party (which was a better the time than the party was anyway) so yay for that . too bad we didn't get to hang out with lala and ivan much more than a hug hello and a hug goodbye .

some of us went to the pool for a while to cool off our brains . this includes mark , who turned out to have a great sense of humor and be hell of funny . i made the mistake fo expecting him to be shy , for some reason . he was very talkative and very quick witted .

it was sad to say bye to everyone . the next couple days were very depressing for me . that always happens when i have to say goodbye . liz and brandon made some time for us just before we had to leave town and we went to see them again . they even cooked for us and thanks to them , the last few hours of our vacation were happy ones . their spirit and hospitiality are of the kind that remind me of why i loved going parties in the first place . they have become two of our favorite people and without them , our experience could not have been what it was .


like i said , the week we spent in california set us back quite a bit (see also : disaster in mexico) and it may be quite a while before we can make it out again , but we will certainly be looking forward to it , and preparing to make it awesome again .

Liz, brandon, lala, ivan, todd, mark, karl, jillian, you were all so wonderful and loving, and I am so glad for that.

Liz and brandon.. like he said, the few hours before we left set a lasting impression for me, playing wii, brandon's horrible controllers , your BEAUTIFUL living space(which is awesome for hanging out in) .. all of it was so wonderful.

I hope to move out there and be close to you soon !!!!

also, the raccoon didn't mention, but we got super close to infected mushroom and sat on this ivy hill that we weren't supposed to.. it was like.. a little bit of heaven to the left of the stage.

This is the first party I've been to that I felt completely at home, and I truly thank every last one of you for providing that opportunity for me .

Parts of the night kind of reminded me of my newb days to the scene, which made me feel good, which was awesome.

And then the night after that I lost my sanity and that was fun too. All-in-all, a great weekend.

DJ Marky threw down a sextaxular set, I wish I could re-live it.

it would have been rad to go to liz's and brandons, but i still had lots of fun.

Bout damn time this thread got started.


Ok...

1)  we didnt go to the party.  whatever happened and we decided to spend some quality time with Liz and Brandon which rocked socks, so you all suck for not ditching the party for us.

So yeah.

Liz and brandon... I miss you guys.... tons... I had so much fun painting, dancing, talking, plotting the demise of everyones hairstyle.... miniature golfing!... virtual jumproping!  quality time.  for sure.  Hopefully soon we will host a bbq up here... (if we arent living out of our car by then).

Rocky and Panda... I really wish we could have spent more time together this time around.  It was great seeing you again, if only for a little while, and hopefully soon we will meet again, you are always welcome on our coast.

Pico, it was great to finally meet you.  And thanks for letting me mess up your hair.  Hopefully we'll see you at more parties out here.  

MARK!!!!  WE MISS YOU.  Like woah.  It was sooooooooooooo much fun seeing you again, and thank you for lunch, and jager, and dirty oatmeal cookies, and good times.  BBQ this fall, we cant wait.

KARL.  You live too fucking close to not visit more.  I have a deck waiting for you when you are ready, so come on up, the beer is on me.

LALA, Ivan............ you know what ................... when ever I hang out with you guys I realize how much it sucks that we dont hang out more.............. I have the best time with you guys. Brandon......... We have had some ups...... and downs........ and ups........... and downs......... and all though we had some disagreements about going to the party......... Im glad we didnt go and that we got to hang out with Ivan and LALA and see all our good friends and meet more people.... I think that this last weekend has opend my eyes to a lot of things and one of them is how much you mean to me. I am really glad we are still together and that we have great friends...... I hope that our relationship can grow from here and that we can add more memories like these ones to our lives............. I love you and thank you for being there for me and helping our relationship grow.

It was really awesome seeing a lot of you folks, i just wish i wasnt a total newb to.. here.. but all of that will change in the next few coming months.

I am really bad with remembering names and matching whatever names i know to faces, but i totally had fun at the apartment after the party. The event itself was really cool - but as one of my friends says - the more people you know, the better the party is.

I really hope to meet the folks i didnt see last week in the coming months, i mean.. what would the world be if everyone here didnt get the opportunity to meet me and be exposed to such an oddity.. i mean.. what would you base your concept of "wierd" off of?

In closing; i just wanted to say again it was really great meeting you all, and i hope that i can engrave your names/faces into my memory (seriously.. i have a hard time remembering people, like.. all the time.)
